How did the idea come about?

After my studies in social and economic sciences, I, Lennert De bruyn, did research in 2019 into the challenging real estate market to see if there is a product that could be of great added value for every Belgian.

After a few months of research, I ended up in the still relatively unknown market of self-storage.

What immediately struck me is that the sector has a rather outdated character and that there were some innovation opportunities. For example, you still had to go on site at every self-storage provider to sign your contract and receive your key.

I thought "That should also be possible in an innovative way!"

We buy so many things online, don't you also need to be able to book storage space online? Our way of life, purchases, communication ... is changing at a rapid pace. We are going to live smaller, there are more self-employed people, ecommerce finds its place in the heart of the Belgian.

Self-storage is also useful for hundreds of other applications. Relocations, a death, divorces, archives, your collection, promotional material, intermediate storage ... and so on. This ensures that the self-storage sector in Europe has grown enormously in recent years.

There is a growing demand for smaller, affordable, flexible & always-accessible storage spaces " At the beginning of 2020, Storo was the first in Belgium to come up with a system that could meet the convenience of a good webshop.

Hi Hi,

My name is Lennert :) Within Storo I take care of the day-to-day management of the company.

I founded the company Storo in 2019 with my father Johan, after a market research which showed that self-storage is an interesting sector that is growing very fast in Belgium.

I myself have been passionate about everything to do with real estate and retail for years, so this suited me immediately.

Because we have fully automated everything, such as a webshop, I have now become half an IT professional. An undiscovered passion it seems.

I love the contact with you, our customers, so you will often see me yourself or get me on the line.

 

As for my private life:
In my spare time I like to go out for dinner and drink with friends, or you can find me on the tennis court.

 

My name is Jorinne.

I started at Storo in June 2022 to support the growth story. Together with Lennert I am responsible for the day-to-day management of the company in various areas such as expansion, financial/legal aspects, marketing, etc.

Before I started at Storo, I worked for almost 10 years at the Big4 in international taxation. Let's say: a completely different position, but it has given me skills that I can apply every day within the Storo organization.

For example, we want to automate everything from front-end to back-end so that we can focus on what is important: offering an optimal customer experience where the customer can easily book his box and always has a good feeling when he/she visits a Storo location. steps in.

The moments when I am not working for Storo you will find me with my friends and family (getting a bite to eat together, playing tennis, watching football or playing cards).

Hello everyone,

My name is Johan.

I have been active in project development for 25 years and, together with my son Lennert, saw an opportunity in a self-storage sector still unknown in Belgium.

After an investigation in 2019, we saw our opportunity to take the plunge, which resulted in the opening of 2 branches at the beginning of this year in Mechelen and Brecht.

My role within Storo is mainly to act as a sounding board for Lennert and the rest of the team.
I am also looking for new locations where Storo could establish itself based on my experience in the real estate market.

In my spare time you will mainly find me on the racing bike.

Hello everyone,

I am Lien.

I have been working with Johan since 2019 for his project development company. I have also known Lennert for years, as we used to be classmates in secondary school. It is fun to be colleagues right now! In April 2023, I officially made the switch to STORO, where I am responsible for a part of the administration and for the accountancy.

In my spare time, you can find me playing volleyball or visiting my three little nieces. I also enjoy painting and making my own ceramics.

 

Hi, I am Silke. 

I started working for STORO in September 2023, exactly one year after graduating with a Master in Multilingual Communication. I am responsible for the daily administration and for the marketing. That means that I am also in contact with customers every day to help them with their bookings or questions. 

In my downtime, you will find me doing sports (running, yoga, squash), going out with my best friends, with my nose in a book or visiting my family.

For the rest, Storo is assisted where necessary by the standby team.
These are Lien Jef and Tom.
Lien is still responsible for the management of the buildings.

Tom analyzes and co-creates Excel sheets and process structures in order to work optimally.

Jef is responsible for the daily maintenance and technical support where necessary.
He can get anything made.

Together, all Storo team members complement each other well, which ensures an optimally arranged service.
