The story of how Storo began
In 2019, Lennert and Johan were mainly working in residential real estate. After a few months of market research and a visit to a trade fair, they landed on self-storage, a sector that was still little known in Belgium at the time.
What they saw surprised them. With every provider, you had to sign your contract and collect your key on site. “This has to be done differently,” they thought. Renting a storage unit should be as smooth as ordering something from a good webshop.
In the spring of 2020, the first two locations opened, in Brecht and Mechelen. You booked online and immediately received an access code for the building and your box. Storo was thereby the first self-storage in Belgium where you could book entirely online. That is still how it works today, just in more places.

Lennert
Co-founder – Managing Director
In 2019, Lennert founded Storo together with his father Johan. Why self-storage? Their market research left no doubt: the sector is growing rapidly in Belgium. With his passion for real estate and retail, the choice was quickly made.
Today he runs Storo day to day. The team automated everything, just like a webshop, and so Lennert unwittingly became half an IT person. His goal? To make self-storage as easy as online shopping.
After hours, he likes to sit down at the table with friends for a bite and a drink.
Jorinne
Managing Director
Jorinne joined in June 2022 to help speed up Storo’s growth story. Together with Lennert, she runs the company day to day. Her domain? Expansion, finance, legal affairs and marketing.
Before that, she worked for almost ten years at the Big Four, in international tax. A completely different world, but she brings those skills with her every day. That is how the team automates everything, from front end to back end. The goal: making room for what matters. A box you book in a few clicks, and a good feeling every time you walk into a Storo location.
Outside working hours, she is at the table with friends and family, on the tennis court, watching football or playing a game of cards.
Johan
Chairman
Johan has been active in property development for more than 25 years. Together with his son Lennert, he saw an opportunity in a sector that was still barely known in Belgium: self-storage. After thorough research in 2019, they took the leap. In 2020, the first two locations opened, in Mechelen and Brecht.
Today, Johan is the team’s sounding board. With his real estate experience, he scouts for new locations and helps draw up the layout of every new location.
In his free time, you will mostly find him on his racing bike.
Strong together behind the scenes
Lennert, Jorinne and Johan do not stand alone. Behind them is a team that keeps growing, each with their own role in the Storo story.
The expansion team scouts for new locations. The construction team makes sure those locations actually come to life. The colleagues in maintenance and operations keep every location neat, safe and in order, day after day. Marketing and sales make sure you find Storo at the moment you need extra space. And customer service is ready as soon as you have a question.
What binds them? They always look for a solution, not a problem. They answer quickly, because you would rather not wait. And they improve the service a little every day, so that storing with Storo becomes smoother and more carefree every time.
That way, everyone works toward the same goal: extra space without the hassle, for you.

How renting a storage unit at Storo works

Reserving a storage unit is simple! Choose the start date of your rental contract and, if you like, add packing materials to your order. Then create an account, pay online and sign the contract with an SMS code.
Download the Storo app to get access to the building and the box, or use the access code that is sent to you after your booking.
Want to see a storage unit before you rent? You can!
How big is a 5 m² box really? And will your belongings fit? It is best to see it with your own eyes.

Simple to set up on line, easy to use application. The building is new and it is clean and in perfect working order. the location is good and there is lots pf parking with a really good loading / unloading area.

When you're looking for extra storage, you want things to be as easy and straightforward as possible, because you already have a lot of other things going on at the same time.<br>From the moment I got in touch with STORO,actually with Joëlle, I felt understood. She walked me through their pricing, and everything was very clear. What she told me I would pay is exactly what I actually pay. No surprises, unlike some competitors who add all kinds of extra costs afterwards.<br>You access your storage unit through the app, like some competitors offer as well, and you can access it until 11 p.m., which can make a difference for some people. It certainly did for me.<br>A few weeks after I started using my storage unit, I received a call from Morane. She was simply checking in to make sure everything was clear and to see if I had any additional questions. Great! I really appreciate it when companies take the time to check in or follow up. It shows that they care about more than just getting your business.<br>Overall, I spoke to two ladies who clearly like their jobs and do them with passion. I immediately felt comfortable with both of them.<br>So, once again: thank you, Joëlle and Morane, for being more than just “storage employees.” Your personal approach really makes a difference! 👌🏻

I'm very happy we found Storo!!! When we had limited time to find an apartment, it was very convenient to move our belongings to Storo in the meantime. The doors can be opened (like gates, the storage unit) via the app and there are carts placed to help you with carrying, which makes the whole process much smoother. Also the first month is discounted. Would recommend it to everyone🌸

I have never used such services in the past and this was my first experience. Storo is exceptional in its convenience, location and simplicity. Once you book a unit you have access to it immediately, no waiting or paperwork to fill! And you can open all doors of the building using their app. The price is great for the amount of storage you can get too. Absolutely recommend to everyone

Highly recommended! The facility looks great, is clean, well-maintained, and very professional. The staff are friendly, helpful, and made the whole process easy from start to finish. It turned out that I needed a larger storage unit than the one I had originally reserved, but everything was handled quickly and smoothly. All procedures were clearly explained, and I only needed to sign the paperwork while the staff took care of the rest. Excellent service, straightforward process, and a great overall experience.

I had a very good experience with this storage facility. Everything is well organized, clean, and easy to navigate. The complex is spacious, with wide hallways and plenty of room to move around comfortably. All areas are clearly indicated, making it very easy to find your way around. They also provide carts to help transport your belongings easily to and from your storage unit, which makes the whole process very practical and efficient. The facility feels secure as well, with camera surveillance throughout the complex. A nice extra touch is the music playing in the hallways, which creates a pleasant atmosphere. I also liked that the different storage hallways each have their own street names inside the complex, it’s a creative and well-thought-out concept. Overall, the service is efficient, convenient, and professional. Highly recommended!
